Miranda Ballin and Agata Tecl first met in May 2011 at a European Conference at which they both shared their experiences of working with young people seen to be on the margins of society. Miranda works in the South Wales Valleys; Agata in Bytom, Poland. The coming together of these women and the artistic Companies with which they work is detailed in a fascinating article in The Journal for Drama in Education Volume 28, Issue 2: ‘Kids at the Centre. ‘Art Works’ at Valley Kids collaborate with ‘Common Room of Art for Kids’ Kronika Contemporary Art Gallery.’
The images in this gallery, taken by Rhian Lloyd, supplement the article and are intended to give a richer flavour of the place of Bytom, the process in which the young people engaged and the parade in which the superhero costumes were shared with the community in April 2012.
