Karen Latto, OCR Subject Specialist for Drama and Performing Arts attended Conference 2014. She has written to us, urging the Association and all individual Drama specialists to respond to the two consultations (DFE & Ofqual).
As discussed at Conference the consultation on the new GCSE Drama and GCE Drama and Theatre qualifications have opened. There are 2 consultations running concurrently. The first is the DfE consultation on the content. This outlines what all students who take the redeveloped qualifications will learn regardless of which exam board course they study. This common content is what the exam boards will use to create their specification content. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/gcse-and-a-level-reform–2
This consultation closes on the 20th November at 5.00 pm.
The second consultation is run by Ofqual the qualification regulator. This outlines the proposed new assessment objectives and weightings and the split of Non-Examined and Examined assessment. The definition of exam has changed with the reform and an exam is now an assessment which is completed by all students at the same time on the same day. http://comment.ofqual.gov.uk/developing-new-qualifications-for-2016-part-2/
This consultation closes on 19th November.
