Membership and Structure
NATD is a non-profit making, voluntary organisation with Charitable Status. It is a democratic organisation with meetings at which the membership may come together to review the Association and determine its policy. It is run by a National Executive Committee (NEC) of people drawn from the membership who are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). All full members of the Association are eligible to stand for election to the NEC. Each full member of the Association has one vote. The Association operates according to the principles set down in its constitution.

The Association derives its income from:
- membership fees
- sales of journals
- conferences and workshops
The Association’s income is used for:
- organising conferences and workshops and all the attendant expenses (e.g. contributors’ fees/expenses; publicity etc)
- the production and mail-out of the twice yearly Journal for Drama in Education
- National Executive Committee expenses
