LATE Summer Conference

The LATE Summer Conference is being held on Saturday 12th July at the Institute of Education. The conference looks towards the future of teaching in English and sees a lot to be excited about

The LATE Summer Conference programme for SATURDAY 12th JULY 2014 is now on the website and booking is open.
There are 60 places only so book early to avoid disappointment.

The next planning meeting for the 2014/5 programme will be on Saturday 13th September at the Institute of Education, everybody welcome to come with suggestions and ideas. One idea already is to have an all day poetry conference, including poetry in other languages and through drama. If you have any suggestions for such a conference, please email late@late.org.uk

You may also be interested to know the National Theatre is keen to work with schools and the building work at the theatre is specifically aimed at providing more spaces to work with students and teachers. They also have an archive and films of productions at the NT that schools can access. Check their website for more details. Jane Ball, their secondary education officer will be leading one of the workshops at the Summer conference.

Another useful new resource is the British Library’s website on the Romantic and Victorian periods. See www.bl.uk/discovering-literature

We hope to see you at the Summer conference! We wish all LATE supporters a well deserved and restful summer holiday. I you have any good summer reading recommendations please email them to late@late.org.uk and we will collate them and put them on the website.

Best wishes,
The LATE committee
